With exactly one month to go, the 2013 Philly Phlyer is ready to rock and roll! Returning this year are the original, classic Philly Phlyer West River Dr time trial—now featuring two laps!—and Schuylkill Scrambler circuit race courses on Saturday, March 16th, and the exciting, downtown Bike Temple Campus Crit on Sunday, March 17th. Making this event possible once again are our partners Sartomer (part of the Arkema Group), Temple University, and Stuart Leon Bicycle Crash Law. Say thanks if you meet a representative, the event would not happen without their support!
Now in its eighth year, the Phlyer continues as one of the flagship events of the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (ECCC). As with all ECCC races, a full docket of student categories will be held, from the newest beginners in our coached Introduction to Bicycle Racing clinic races, to pros and pro hopefuls in the Women’s and Men’s A fields. Additionally, for 2013 the Phlyer is expanding its non-collegiate options, now including an open TTT and ITT, Women’s and Men’s P/1/2/3 circuit races, and Men’s 3/4 circuit race and criterium. Details, schedules, and course maps are available in the race flyer (PDF).
As always, the Phlyer also needs your help to make it happen! With our three ambitious, downtown courses, and extensive schedules, we need plenty of people power for course marshaling, setup, and other tasks. Please consider volunteering to join this community effort and make a great Philadelphia cycling tradition as safe and smoothly running as possible.
More to come, but you better get out there and start training, it’s going to be huge!
